Our most anticipated movie release of the year is almost here so we thought we’d celebrate by showing you how to get the Katniss Everdeen braid.
We won’t lie – the Katniss braid does take a little bit of work and some nimble fingers but the finished look is so gorgeous that it’s totally worth it! Just take your time and remember, practice makes perfect.
How to get the Katniss Everdeen Braid – Step One
Begin your braid by taking a section of hair as large or small as you want from the front of your head and splitting this into three sections. To make this simpler for yourself, you might want to number each strand – the top strand would be number one, the middle number two and the bottom strand number three.
How to get the Katniss Everdeen Braid – Step Two
To begin your dutch braid, take section one and pull this under section two, then take section three and pull this under section one. Now, add hair into section two before you move this under section three. Next up, add hair into section one before bringing it under the braid again. Keep adding hair into the top section before taking it under the braid as you continue. Basically, you’re doing a reverse French braid!
How to get the Katniss Everdeen Braid – Step Three
Continue Dutch braiding to the back of your head and make sure you pull tightly to keep the braid secure. Finish with an uber dose of hairspray to keep everything in place. To get the signature Katniss roughness, pull out some tendrils around your face.
There you have it, how to get the Katniss Everdeen braid, bow and arrow optional!
